Bangtan have their own official facebook page that uploads unseen photos and information for fans. Although unfortunately, everything is in hanguel (the korean script) which puts international fans who cant understand it at a disadvantage.

Sewol Ferry Disaster and delayed programming

Because of the Sewol Ferry sinking off the coast of South Korea on April 16th, all music programs, tv programs and music promotions (including Bangtan’s) had been cancelled up until this week. BANGTANTV have only just started uploading videos again with Jungkook’s Vlog being uploaded on May 11th.

Stage Name: Jungkook

Real Name: Jungkook Jeon

Position: Singer, main dancer and main rapper

DOB: September 1st 1997 (age 16)

Nickname: Jeon Jungkookie, Kookie, Golden Maknae (maknae is the korean word used to refer to the youngest in any sort of group)

Ideal girl: Someone who has nice legs, slightly smaller then him in height, would make a good wife, great at cooking,and someone who he is able to have an intelligent conversation with.

Habits: Wriggling his fingers and sniffing because he has rhinitis .

Jungkook, the youngest of the seven member group, has so much talent under his belt and has accomplished so much for someone so young. He was casted by BigHit after leaving the auditions for a Korean talent show called Superstar K2 when he was only 13 years old. Although he was accepted into the company via his singing, his dance skill were also extremely well developed. He had learnt b-boying from the age of 12 but was told that he had no emotion or expressions while preforming. So he went and studied in the US under Movement Lifestyle, an extremely prestigious dance company.

Stage Name: V (for Victory)

Real Name: Taehyung Kim

Position: Singer and Visual

DOB: December 30th, 1995 (age 19)

Nickname: TaeTae, Blank Tae (because he always has a blank expression)

Ideal girl: Someone who becomes more charming with each day, someone who will love only him, someone who will take care of him, someone who has a “chic” personality outside but will still make him hot chocolate at home, someone who has hidden aegyo (cuteness)

Habits: Opening his mouth, biting him nails, touching anything that’s cute.

Role Model(s): His father. Taehyung wants to be a father like his own. Someone who takes care of his children, listens to what they have to say and gives them advice for their future plans.

Taehyung trained for 3 years under BigHit and was originally scouted for his looks. Predebut, Taehyung was internet famous for his role as an Ulzzang (someone with a pretty face). Although Taehyung trained with the other Bangtan members, he was not revealed to be apart of the group until his debut teaser image was released.

Jimin Park

Real Name: Jimin Park
Position: Lead dancer and singer
DOB: December 13th, 1995 (age 19)
Nickname: Park Jiminnie and Dooly

Jimin has been apart of the Busan (a major city in the south of South Korea) dancing scene since middle school. He made a local name for himself by joining many street dance groups as well as winning multiple talent competitions with his singing skills too. Even though he was the last member to join Bangan, he luckily only trained for one year under Big Hit.
He considers himself ‘fat’ not only because of the Korean beauty standard but also because he HAD very chubby cheeks as a trainee. This has lead to Jimin being very self conscious about his looks and his weight. Although when he debuted, Jimin was known as the member with “chocolate abs”

Hoseok Jung

Stage Name: J-Hope (J= Jung, his surname Hope= He wants to spread hope to those that have none)
Real Name: Hoseok Jung
Position: Rapper, main dancer, singer, writer and composer
DOB: February 18th, 1994 (age 20)
Nickname: Hope. “First of all, my name is full of hope. I also have a very bright personality. I’m a hopeful being.”
Ideal girl: A girl who loves him, who is good at cooking, and who thinks a lot.
Habits: Cleaning up the area around himself, and dancing when there is music

Hoseok, again like Namjoon and Yoongi, was actively participated in the underground hip-hop scene. However, he made a name for himself through his dancing skills. Before switching to BigHit, Hoseok auditioned and trained under JYP Entertainment, another Korean entertainment company. He joined Bangtan in 2011.

Before debut, Hoseok was a backup dancer for 2AM’s Jokwon where he appeared in the music video “I’m Da One” along with other members, Jimin and Jungkook. He also starred in Jokwon’s music video “Animal”.

“Graduation Song” is a cover of Wiz Khalifa’s “Young, Wild and Free” that Hoseok produced with Jimin and Jungkook just before Jungkok Middle School graduation.

Yoongi Min

Stage Name: Suga (because he’s really pale)

Real Name:  Yoongi Min

DOB: March 9^th, 1993 (age 21)

Nickname: Motionless Min (because he does nothing whenever he gets the chance), Dad (because he treats the other members like children)

Ideal girl: Someone who likes music and enjoys listening to hip-hop

Habits: making jokes all the time, continuously writing new lyrics, always rhyming words and speaking in “satoori” or dialect.

Role Model(s): Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Hit Boy and Lupe Fiasco.

Yoongi, like Rap Mon/Namjoon, was an underground rapper until 2011 when he placed 2^nd in the Big Hit auditions. This automatically placed in the BTS project where he trained for 3 years before debuting. His musical education started in 6^th grade where he learnt classical composition and continued to compose whenever he had the chance.

Since training under BigHit Ent, Yoongi has written and appeared in a number of albums and music videos.
